Crows Nest is a buzzing, food-focused lower North Shore suburb known for its cafe culture, village atmosphere and increasingly urban feel. Anchored by Willoughby Road and the Pacific Highway, it combines the charm of tree-lined side streets with the energy of Sydney’s best eating strip outside the inner east.
Dining & cafes: Few Sydney suburbs pack as many restaurants per block as Crows Nest. Willoughby Road alone hosts Italian trattorias, Korean BBQ, Japanese izakayas, Middle Eastern, modern Australian, Mexican, pub classics and dessert bars. The cafe scene is outstanding – specialty coffee roasters, brunch spots, bakeries and patisseries draw crowds on weekends. Tucked-away cocktail bars and long-running local pubs give evenings a lively edge.
Transport & access: The new Crows Nest Metro station has transformed access, delivering turn-up-and-go services south to the CBD (about 10 minutes to Barangaroo) and north to Chatswood and beyond. Frequent buses along the Pacific Highway reach Wynyard in around 15 minutes, and cross-suburb services connect to Mosman, Neutral Bay and the Northern Beaches. St Leonards station is a short walk for additional rail options.

“Nice apartment, good location. Despite there being underground parking, for some unspecified reason, it was not made available to us. Neither was the lack of parking made clear. As a result we had to constantly jockey for parking at or near the apartment. It is very inconvenient.”

“Great location and comfortable stay in Crows Nest I really enjoyed my stay here. The apartment is in a fantastic location right next to the Metro station, with plenty of great restaurants, bars, and grocery stores within easy walking distance. The unit itself is quiet, has excellent temperature control, and comes with a well-equipped kitchen and solid laundry facilities—everything I needed for a comfortable visit. The only minor inconvenience was the key pickup and drop-off process. The keys are managed by a separate property office about 3km from the unit. When I arrived, I was able to have a driver (recommended by the host) collect the keys for me, which made things easier. However, for check-out, I was required to return the keys to the office in person, rather than leaving them in the unit as is common with many other stays. It would be great if a more flexible key return option could be considered in the future. Aside from that small issue, everything else was excellent.”

“Relatively good value for money. Please be mindful that key pick up is about seven minutes away in another suburb. To their credit the host does explain this fact in the brochure. Highly recommended for the travelling academic/postgrad student you are right next to the Metro train line that gets you into the city in 10 minutes. I didn’t choose to stay here for comfort but rather efficiency which it certainly delivered! I’d happily stay there again.”
