Neighbourhood Guide: Neutral Bay
Neutral Bay is a picturesque harbourside village on the lower North Shore, set between Kirribilli and Cremorne. Its tree-lined streets, Art Deco apartments and mix of heritage and modern homes create a welcoming neighbourhood feel, while its ferry wharf and fast buses to the CBD make it one of Sydney’s best-connected suburbs.
Dining & cafes: Military Road is the main dining strip, stretching from Neutral Bay Junction up towards Cremorne. You’ll find Italian, Thai, Japanese, Indian, Middle Eastern, modern Australian, Mexican and seafood restaurants at every price point. The local cafe scene is excellent – specialty coffee, bakeries, brunch spots and delis – and evenings bring wine bars, cocktail venues and long-standing pubs to life. Grosvenor Lane hides some of the area’s best hidden gems.
Transport & access: Neutral Bay is exceptionally well served. Frequent buses along Military Road run express to the CBD via the Harbour Bridge – Wynyard is typically 15 minutes away. The 225, 228 and 230 routes connect to Mosman, Balmoral, Chatswood and North Sydney. From Neutral Bay Wharf, ferries reach Circular Quay in about 10 minutes, offering one of the city’s most scenic commutes. The Warringah Freeway is close at hand for drivers.
Attractions & things to do: Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace is a treasured Art Deco cinema a short walk away. Neutral Bay Wharf and the adjacent Kurraba Point foreshore reward a walk with sweeping harbour views. Forsyth Park and Anderson Park are great for weekend sport and picnics. Kirribilli, Luna Park and the Sydney Harbour Bridge are close neighbours, as is Mosman’s Taronga Zoo. The Harbour foreshore walk offers hours of beautiful scenery.
Shopping & daily essentials: The Junction has everything you need day to day – supermarkets (Coles, Harris Farm), a pharmacy, post office, banks, dry cleaners and bottle shops. Specialty retailers and bookshops line Military Road, and weekly markets bring fresh produce and artisan fare. Medical centres, gyms and services are all within an easy stroll – Neutral Bay is as practical as it is pretty.

Very responsive hosts. The apartment’s location is not only close to my family’s place but also very convenient to walk to restaurants, cafes and even to public transportations.

The apartment is very nice and comfortable, the view is excellent, despite the treetop. The location is the best in Sydney, close to all transportation. The apartment is very well equipped. Although it does not have air conditioning, opening the small windows in the kitchen and bathroom is sufficiently ventilated. The garage is very convenient. We had a fantastic time

I was worried because it was a bit far from the tourist attractions, but there is a bus that goes there directly and the bus stop is in front of the grocery store, so it's good for shopping. You can also enjoy the romance and leisure of passing the harbor bridge every time. The neighborhood itself is quiet and pretty, so it's fun to walk around the neighborhood. Highly recommended if you're staying in Sydney for more than 4 days.

Really lovely spot, and lovely place. Checkout was a bit of a pain as they changed the process last minute. Additionally, the windows have no latches on them so are a risk for young children.

Excellent location close to all amenities. Clean modern interior. Great views. Only drawbacks were no Kayo or Foxtel sports on TV and dirty cutlery crockery and glasses.

Fantastic location for getting into CBD or as I was, for the start of the Sydney Marathon. Loads of local shops within 5 minutes walk. Some confusion with the keys which can be picked up at the apartment itself but apart from that, was excellent. Place was clean, internet, comfy bed and well equipped kitchen. Beware the parrots that come knocking on the windows but make for great photos. I would 100% stay here again without a doubt.

Great location, clean apartment, just couple issues with electrics, which tripped out and extension leads didn’t work in bedroom so no bedside lights worked, this was communicated back to Maria, she responded quickly. Also it would have been nice to have a couple more towels. But overall a good stay.

Beautiful Apartment! It was spotlessly clean and the koala bed was so comfortable I want one of my own. It was cozy with the heating and I got the benefit of both a tree and a city view. I liked the workspace too. Apartment is well located close to all the things in neutral Bay Junction. My only problem was being a noise sensitive person. The apartment was so quiet, couldn’t hear any traffic noise. It was really silent inside, but unfortunately the fridge & freezer were not. There was also some water pump thing that was running through the wall making a whirring noise. The hosting agency denied any knowledge of it but looked kind of permanent. The communication with the hosting agency was pretty slow but adequate.

Lovely Condo - great views. Clean & new Kitchen & bathroom. Maria communicates well . Neutral Bay is a beautiful area. Bus is available on main road & Ferry down the hill. To take you to Circular key for Bridge, opera house museums & shopping. Bus waiting for ferry to take you up the hill.

Fabulous location, lift is a bonus, open view, renovated and well equipped kitchen , renovated bathroom, comfy bed, quality linen. Although sofa has some stain, overall we enjoyed our stay.

Checking into this apartment you’re met with a nice floor layout and a lovely view of the harbour and northside city. Well equipped kitchen with a welcoming bag of goodies that included a sponge, washing detergents and tea/coffee. The massive bed was comfortable and the bedroom had a portable heater which was very welcome in winter. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return!

Conveniently located to lots of shops and transport around the area. Amazing view from the apartment. The sofa covers could have used a little clean and there were some appliances that were missing (ie. smoothie blender) but all in all, great value.

The apartment had all amenities as advertised and a beautiful view over the city. In summer one might miss aircon, but the floor fan was perfect for the season when we visited. An unepexcted bonus was the tall gum tree just outside the window. This provided a view into the treetop world of birds that one does not usually see from below, with regular visitors dropping by daily. We enjoyed our 6 week stay tremendously, recommend.

Was a great place to stay had everything we needed they unit had everything inside. Was really clean. Only a few small things could have been better the address to get the key was down the road but worked that out quickly, and just a few more towels would have been good , maybe some kind of blind for the big window but no one can see in up there , other than that I would recommend staying there close to lots of places.
