Sydney has reclaimed the mantle of Australia's top performing hotel market from Perth for the first time in more than six years, according to the latest STR Global figures. Over the past 12 months to March, Sydney's average hotel occupancy rate increased to 84 per cent, and its average room rate rose to $203 a night. Over the same period, Perth's occupancy rate dipped slightly to 83 per cent, and room rates slipped to just above $200 a night, the STR Global figures show.
